This Golden Butter Brioche is irresistibly soft, rich, and fluffy with a delicate buttery flavor. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon treat, each slice is light, tender, and delicious served with jam, honey, or simply on its own.
Ingredients
- 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 7 g (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
- 50 g (¼ cup) sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 120 ml (½ cup) warm milk
- 170 g (¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add eggs and warm milk. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Gradually add the softened butter, a little at a time, kneading well after each addition.
- Continue kneading until the dough is silky and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1½–2 hours, or until doubled.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or small rolls.
- Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise again for 45–60 minutes.
- Brush with the egg wash.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Tips
- Use room-temperature ingredients for the best texture.
- Chill the dough for 1 hour after the first rise if it’s too soft to handle.
- Delicious with jam, butter, honey, or Nutella.
