These Caramel Apple Puff Pastry Squares are flaky, buttery, and filled with tender cinnamon-spiced apples in a rich caramel sauce. An easy dessert recipe that looks bakery-worthy and is perfect for fall gatherings, holidays, or a cozy sweet treat anytime.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Caramel Sauce
- ¼ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5–6 minutes until the apples begin to soften.
- Mix cornstarch with water and stir into the apple mixture. Cook for 1 minute until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 equal squares.
- Score a smaller square inside each piece, leaving a border around the edges. Do not cut all the way through.
- Spoon the apple mixture into the center of each square and drizzle with a little caramel sauce.
- Brush the pastry edges with beaten egg.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
