Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340 g) spaghetti
  • 1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz / 800 g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  6. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  7. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, Italian seasoning, oregano, paprika, salt, pepper, and sugar.
  8. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  9. Cook uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  10. Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce or serve the sauce over the pasta.
  11. Sprinkle generously with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
