Smooth, creamy, and loaded with Mediterranean flavors, this homemade hummus is topped with extra virgin olive oil, chickpeas, fresh parsley, and paprika for the perfect appetizer or snack. Served with warm pita bread, it’s healthy, delicious, and impossible to resist.
Ingredients
- 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- ¼ cup tahini
- 3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- 3–4 tbsp cold water
Toppings
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp whole chickpeas
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- Pinch of za’atar (optional)
Instructions
- Add chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt to a food processor.
- Blend until smooth.
- Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until creamy.
- Transfer to a serving bowl.
- Using the back of a spoon, create swirls on top.
- Drizzle generously with olive oil.
- Top with whole chickpeas, paprika, parsley, and za’atar.
- Serve with warm pita bread and fresh vegetables.
